Today we had Scientist Wendy visit us in our classroom. We learned a little bit about forces that effect the stability of structures. We were challenged to make a stable structure at the end of our learning. Everyone's group was successful in having the structures stable enough to hold 3 or 4 big dictionaries. A lot of learning took place today.
The students are working on different strategies for addition. During the next week they will be working on subtraction strategies. writingMany of the students need to work on writing a simple sentence. A sentence is a complete thought that has a capital at the beginning of the sentence and punctuation at the end. The words are separated with finger spaces. We do not join our thoughts or start a sentence with the word "and". Please have your child practise their writing skills at home. AssemblyStudents watched a presentation from the Tribal Vision Dance Group. This show was called "Visions of Turtle Island". It included live singing and dancing in Powwow and Haudenosaunee styles. The presentation ended with an amazing Hula Hoop Dance. Playing with puzzles helps build spatial awareness skills. A child is required to determine which piece goes where and then manipulate the piece to get into the shape. Puzzles also help develop problem-solving skills. Ask Your child about saving freddieGroup Vacation Activity Students put themselves into groups for this activity. They did an amazing job working together.
